A Poem for Wolfy

Deep in the woods

where the pine smells

strong an sweet

a lone wolf sits

Sniffing the air an watching the birds

With a bored yawn he

turns an walks towards

a river incased in blue

He stands for a moment,

listening clear

but not sure of what it is.

he shakes his head an

lowers his mouth

to the waters edge

Ready to drink

the sweet, sweet water

Suddenly a face looks up at

him from the water's

depth.

The wolf jumps back

as if stung by a Bee.

A laughter , like the sound

of gentle bells

ring all around him.

Startled the wolf begins to retreat but then he

stops as a voice dipped in honey says

Hold there, my friend wolf

I wanted to meet you

an so you came

With teeth bared an hair raise

The wolf cautiously approached the rivers edge.

There looking up at him

was a golden haired woman

with eyes so richly a deep blue.

She giggles then smiles

 an Wolf relaxes

a moment or two passes

an she asks.

Dear Wolf, lets be friends

he sits an stares at her

then smiles his Wolfy grin

For days an weeks he visits

that spot listening to the lady

as she danced an twirled in the lake.

Sometimes he would race run up an down the shore

as she kept pace laughing.

This went on for many years

till wolf got too old to run.

Then the day came

when wolf could move

no more

an his body laid on the shore

near the clear blue water.

The lady was sad

an she rose from the lake

taking his paw in hand

she led him to her dwelling

where he was born a man

an lived at her side forever.
